Grafton-Taylor County Health Department Announces Retirement of Health Officer David Bender, MD and Appointment of Interim Successor Amy Reed Gutshall, FPNP-C/PMHNP-BC
Grafton, WV – 2-24-25 – The Grafton-Taylor County Board of Health announces the retirement of Doctor David Bender after 10 years of dedicated service as the Health Officer for Taylor County. Bender has been instrumental in advancing public health initiatives, improving community wellness, and responding to health crises, such as COVID-19 response.
“We are incredibly grateful for Bender’s leadership and commitment to the health and well-being of our residents,” said Annie Kennedy, GTCHD Administrator. “Their contributions have left a lasting impact on our community, and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
The Board of Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Reed Gutshall, FPNP-C/PMHNP-BC as the Interim Health Officer, effective February 14, 2025. Amy brings her extensive experience in public health, currently serving as the health department’s Family Planning Nurse Practitioner. She will work closely with the Board and community partners to ensure a seamless transition and a continued focus on critical public health initiatives.
